The Ryerson Book store is a RIP OFF!!!! Please please please safe yourself the money and look elsewhere. Now the good alternative is the used book store at the main level Jorgensen Hall. Odds are, the books you want wont be there, but its always worth a shot! Your second option is Discount Book Store, walk down towards the Tim Hortons, cross the lights and past the little side street. About 3 stores down, there an walkway to an underground store, you'll usually see people with flyers and a big sign. This is a great place to get a good deal, still pricey!
My recommendation? Online baby! Chatpers.ca and Amazon. They tend to have great deals from time to time and I've got about 50% of my Ryerson books from them.
Your last best is alumni students who post books for sale around the Comp Sci campus area. They'll usually give you a good deal. You'll find some books more useful than others and it may be tough to get a hold of popular course books, like Java and C stuff. Good luck in your search, but remember DONT BUY FROM THE RYERSON BOOK STORE!!! Rip off.
