If you're new to Ryerson Computer Science, there are a few people you're going to want to meet. If you're going to suck up to someone, you better know who to suck up to. First and foremost, Sadeghian and Lan. If you have a class with them or see them in the halls, try and get their attention. Dont kick them. These are the most powerful 2 people in Computer Science and if you can somehow get them to remember your face or even better, your name, you'll be sitting pretty for your years at Ryerson. Sadeghian is very good with faces and names, so if he remembers you, you're good.

Lori and Lucia at the front desk are next in line. Drop in every so often just to add a course, then drop it shortly after, just so they get to know your name. Later in 4th year, when course selections are slim and class sizes are even slimmer, you'll want to have a little help getting into your course selections. They cant change your marks or do any of that nonsense. But they can give you preferencial treatment, to some extent. Believe me, when the time comes when you need some help getting into a course or appealing a mark, they know how to help and they'll do their best.

Getting to know the admins is a good idea. They're very quiet and secluded people. But they can give you good advice when something goes wrong. Even though they make look stand-off'ish, they're actually really helpful and knowledgable people, I mean they're admins, they have to be.

Lastly, your profs. Start early. Get to know your prof's if you can and get them to remember you. As high school as it sounds, I cant stress enough how important sucking up is in university. It DOES work. Most of the profs are very approachable anyway, and its not really a chore getting to know them outside of a classroom. The only prof I'd highly recommend avoiding at all costs, whether it be in class or out on the street is Soutchanski. Without question one of the worst prof's I've ever come across at Ryerson and in life itself.
